PEI And OINP Latest PNP Draw Updates
Largest PNP Draw held by PEI
Prince Edward Island has released details of two Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws in August. One of them was the biggest draw the program has ever seen. Prince Edward Island issued 305 invitations to Express Entry, Labour Impact, and Business Impact immigration candidates.
Of the 305 invitations issued, 28 went to Business Impact candidates. The remaining 227 invitations went to Express Entry and Labour Impact candidates.
The PEI PNP’s Express Entry Category is aligned with the Canadian government’s Express Entry system.
Express Entry manages the applications for three economic-class immigration categories: Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class.
Express Entry candidates who receive a provincial nomination are given an additional 600 points toward their CRS score, and are effectively guaranteed an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in a subsequent Express Entry draw.
In order to be considered for a provincial nomination from PEI, Express Entry candidates need to create an EOI profile with the PEI PNP.
The Labour Impact Category is for foreign nationals who have a valid job offer in PEI, and have support from their employer. It is divided into three streams: Skilled Worker, Critical Worker, and International Graduate.
The 28 candidates who were invited through the Business Impact Category on August 20 needed a minimum EOI score of 112. These invitations were issued under the Work Permit Stream, which is for foreign entrepreneurs who wish to own and operate a business in PEI.

OINP invites 703 Express Entry candidates
Ontario invited 703 Express Entry candidates with work experience in targeted occupations on August 26 2020.
Express Entry candidates needed a CRS score between 466 and 475 to be invited in the latest invitation round. If they successfully receive the nomination, they will automatically be awarded an additional 600 CRS points, which will effectively guarantee them an ITA in a subsequent Express Entry draw. This goes for any successful candidates of a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).
The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) invited candidates to apply for a provincial nomination if they had work experience in one of the following occupations:
- Financial managers NOC 0111
- Advertising, marketing and public relations managers NOC 0124
- Corporate sales managers NOC 0601
- Financial auditors and accountants NOC 1111
- Other financial officers NOC 1114
- Professional occupations in business management consulting NOC 1122
- Registered nurses and registered psychiatric nurses NOC 3012
- Allied primary health practitioners NOC 3124
- Dietitians and nutritionists NOC 3132
The Candidates should have at least one year of experience in the above Occupations to apply under Human Capital Priorities Stream,in order to receive the provincial nomination from Ontario. Having back-to-back jobs in the same occupation but with different employers is acceptable. The work experience must have been obtained within the last five years from the date of the application. It could have been gained in Canada or overseas but it must have been “continuous”, meaning no break in employment for over a one year period.
Express Entry is an application management system for three federal immigration programs: Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class.
This year, the federal government has allocated 7,600 principal applicants for immigration through the OINP. This allocation includes 250 nominations for temporary workers in intermediate skilled occupations or National Occupation Classification (NOC) skill level C.
The OINP searches the Express Entry pool to find candidates who may meet the criteria of their immigration streams. In 2019 over half of Ontario’s 7,391 PNP recipients were Express Entry candidates.
