Step 1: Choose the Right PR Visa
There are several PR visa categories, but the most common ones for Indians are:
Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189): No sponsorship required; for skilled workers whose occupations are in demand.
Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190): Requires nomination by an Australian state or territory.
Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 491): Requires sponsorship by a relative living in regional Australia or a state/territory government.
Employer-Sponsored PR (Subclass 186 & 187): Requires an Australian employer to sponsor you.

Step 4: Get Skills Assessment
Each occupation has a designated assessing authority.
Example: Engineers Australia for engineers, ACS for IT professionals.
Apply for an assessment and receive a positive skills assessment result.
Step 5: Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) in SkillSelect
Create a profile in SkillSelect (Australia’s online immigration system).
Enter details like education, experience, and test scores.
Your EOI remains valid for 2 years.
If eligible, you will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA).
Step 6: Apply for the PR Visa
After receiving an ITA, submit the PR application online.
Pay the visa application fee (starting from AUD 4,115).
Upload required documents (passport, education, experience letters, English test scores, etc.).
Step 7: Medical & Police Clearance
Undergo a medical examination by an approved doctor.
Obtain a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) from the Indian authorities.
Step 8: Wait for Visa Grant
Processing time varies (6 to 12 months for skilled migration visas).
If approved, you will receive a Visa Grant Notification.
Step 9: Move to Australia & Apply for Citizenship
After 4 years of living in Australia (including at least 1 year as a PR), you can apply for Australian Citizenship.
