Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for a Hong Kong Study Visa, applicants must:

• Admission Confirmation: Have secured an acceptance letter from a recognized educational institution in Hong Kong.
• Financial Stability: Demonstrate sufficient financial means to cover tuition fees, accommodation, and other living expenses without relying on public assistance.
• Accommodation Arrangement: Provide proof of suitable accommodation in Hong Kong for the duration of their studies.
• Local Sponsorship: Obtain a local sponsor in Hong Kong. This can be:
  • The educational institution granting admission
  • An individual aged 18 or above, who is a bona fide Hong Kong resident acquainted with the applicant, and financially capable of supporting and accommodating the applicant.

Application Process and Required Documentation:

• Complete Application Forms:
  • Applicant: Form ID 995A.
  • Sponsor: Form ID 995B.
• Prepare Supporting Documents:
  • From the Applicant:
    • i. Recent passport-sized photograph affixed on page 2 of Form ID 995A.
    • ii. Photocopy of valid travel document (e.g., passport).
    • iii. Photocopy of Hong Kong identity card (if any).
    • iv. Letter of acceptance from the educational institution.
    • v. Proof of financial standing, such as bank statements, savings account passbooks, tax receipts, or salary slips.
    • vi. Proof of accommodation arrangement in Hong Kong.
  • From the Sponsor:
    • i. Completed Form ID 995B.
    • ii. Photocopy of the sponsor’s Hong Kong identity card.
    • iii. Photocopy of the sponsor’s travel document (for non-permanent residents of the HKSAR).
    • iv. Proof of the sponsor’s financial standing, such as bank statements, tax receipts, or salary slips.
    • v. An undertaking to provide accommodation and support to the applicant during their stay in Hong Kong (if the applicant is under 18).
• Submission of Application:
  • By post or in person to:
    • Receipt and Despatch Sub-Unit, Hong Kong Immigration Department, 2/F, Immigration Tower, 7 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong.
  • Alternatively, through the nearest Chinese diplomatic and consular mission in the applicant's place of domicile.
• Processing Time:
  • The standard processing time is approximately six weeks upon receipt of all required documents.
• Visa Collection:
  • Upon approval, a visa/entry permit label will be issued. The sponsor is responsible for collecting it from the Immigration Department and forwarding it to the applicant. The applicant must then affix the visa label to a blank visa page of their travel document.

• Visa Application Fee: HKD 230.
• Additional Costs: There may be ancillary expenses such as courier fees, medical examinations, and translation services, depending on individual circumstances.
